Call for Entries - 3rd Annual Media ICONS (& Beyond) Photography Contest

The Media Arts Council is proud to announce the Call for Entries into the 3rd Annual Media ICONS (& Beyond) Photography Contest. Professional and amateur photographers from around Media, Philadelphia, and beyond are invited to submit photography focusing on the “ICONS” of Media, PA or subject matter from “Beyond” the Borough boundaries. Prizes will be awarded in two categories: 1) photographs taken within the Borough of Media, and 2) photographs taken outside of Media. This year’s competition will be jurored by Tsuyoshi Ito, Founder and Program Director of Project Basho. Juror-selected works will be eligible for two 1rst place prizes of $200 and two honorable mentions worth $100 each, and will be included in the October 2nd Saturday Media ICONS Photography Exhibit hosted by the Media Arts Council.

All submissions must be received by Friday September 4, 2008 (8pm).

This year’s contest rules have been expanded to include works from the greater Media area, from around the Philadelphia region, and to anyone around the globe who would like to enter this wonderful “hometown” event. We are also accepting digital submissions via CD or slides by mail to reduce artists’ upfront costs as much as possible.

The purpose of the contest is to support and promote photographers and art photography in the greater Media area, create exhibition opportunities for local artists, increase community cultural development, and promote the character of Media.
